Housing Services

At Rumford Group Homes, we’ve developed housing programs to provide a safe and stable living environment to individuals and families who are leaving the shelter. In addition, all tenants have access to community case management services and someone to help them develop skills to promote independence. These skills are what will prevent a family from becoming homeless again.

Housing Navigator

Rumford Group Homes, in partnership with MaineHousing, is proud to offer Housing Navigator services for eligible individuals and families who are homeless and seeking permanent housing.

Our Locations

Pinewoods

Pinewoods can serve four families at a time. This apartment building consists of two 3-bedroom units with approximately 1,400 square feet, one 2-bedroom unit with about 1,200 square feet; and a 1-bedroom unit with roughly 1,000 square feet. In addition, an office is located on-site for staff who provide supportive services to the participants in the program.

The ultimate goal for all clients living in this apartment complex is to move closer to independent living and maintain permanent housing. While housing here can be indefinite, we assist tenants in securing other permanent housing of their choice, such as becoming first-time homeowners. Staff will work with participants with these goals in mind.

The targeted population is homeless individuals and families located in Oxford County.

Washington Street

Located in a historic section of Rumford, our Washington Street housing provides a 2-bedroom apartment and a 3-bedroom apartment with laundry facilities to families leaving shelters. This spacious and newly remodeled facility offers comfortable living accommodations with all modern conveniences.

Tenants here receive supportive services to continue working on the goals they started developing in the shelter. These goals often include finding a job, completing school, managing finances, counseling, parenting support, and education.

Franklin Street

Our Franklin Street housing program serves families in Rumford. It offers two 3-bedroom apartments and a single 1-bedroom unit with laundry facilities for formerly homeless families and individuals. In addition, the apartments have project-based vouchers, meaning the housing voucher comes tied to the unit. These vouchers make it faster for families seeking housing to move in because they don’t have to remain on the waitlist for a Housing Choice Voucher.

Families in our Franklin Street program are eligible for ongoing case management services and receive assistance to continue their journey to self-sufficiency.
